Rifle Training Courses

Active Shooter Defense School is one the top rifle instruction schools in San Diego. Our range allows for training at distances up to 500 yards which gives our instructors an opportunity to teach more skills. Our rifle training starts with the basic combat rifle course and we have Combat Rifle I and II which are for those with more rifle experience.

Course Overview

Course Duration: 8-9 hours

This is the first of a two day course designed for the shooter that has had some formal weapons training (military, police, competition shooter) and wants to take it to the next level. This course covers the following:

  • Safety
  • Proper stance
  • Proper Grip
  • Touch points
  • Presentation
  • Sight Alignment
  • Trigger control
  • Sling tech
  • Reloads
  • Dynamic movement
  • Multiple position shooting

Required Gear: Rifle, sling (we have loaners), 2 magazines minimum, hearing and eye protection, a shooting mat or thick blanket, clothing that will get dirty, close toed shoes (no sandals). Iron sights or red dots preferred.

Bring a lunch, some snacks, and something to drink, bottled water will be provided.

Course Duration: 8-9 Hours

Combat Rifle 1.5 is a combination of CR I and CR II.  This course will cover all of CRI and incorporate some of the training from CRII.

Course Duration: 8-9 hours

This is an INTERMEDIATE LEVEL Course that will enhance the shooter’s capability in using their rifle / carbine as their primary weapon, with their handgun as a secondary weapon.

In this course we will cover:
• Weapons safety
• Rifle Sling Setup
• Rifle-to-Pistol Transition
• Returning to Primary after transition
• Holstering and drawing
• Speed reloads
• Trigger control and follow-through
• Recoil management
• Acquiring the target under stress
• Accurately engaging the target under stress
• Working space and ready position
• Standard shooting positions
• Clearing malfunctions
• Introduction to basic movement

Required Gear:  Pistol, Rifle, 3 magazines minimum for each weapon, sling, holster, magazine pouches, hearing and eye protection, long pants, closed-toed shoes (no sandals), folding chair and weather-appropriate clothing, hat, and sun block.

Bring a lunch, some snacks, and something to drink.
Bottled water will be provided.

Ammunition Count: 400 rifle rounds, 300 pistol rounds*
